Stacey Abrams leads a special storytime about making a difference with the latest picture book in her “Stacey’s Stories” series, Stacey Speaks Up. The book, illustrated by Kitt Thomas, taps into the former Georgia state representative’s legacy of advocacy, specifically dealing with access to school lunch.
A tax attorney by training, Abrams served 11 years in the Georgia House, including seven as minority leader. She’s launched multiple organizations devoted to voting rights and tackling social issues at the state, national, and international levels.
Abrams works to break barriers for young people, people of color, and the marginalized through her work in the public, nonprofit, and corporate sectors. She holds degrees from Spelman College, the LBJ School of Public Affairs at the University of Texas, and Yale Law School.
Free copies of Stacey Speaks Up are available to event attendees.
Book Festival attendees without children are encouraged to register for Ms. Abrams’ afternoon talk.
