All Library locations will open late at 10:15 a.m. Wednesday, November 20, due to all staff training.
Step into the holiday season with an afternoon of creative art, music, performance, and refreshments at the downtown Central Library. Guests of all ages can take part in a clay workshop, adding their individual touches to a communal Arbol de la Vida (Tree of Life). The project, in conjunction with the Library exhibit Craft Research Lab: Mattie Rhodes Folk Art Collection, is led by Mattie Rhodes Art Center instructor Maggie DeMeulmeester.
Area artists with the Westport Center for the Arts direct a youth-centric art project on the Library’s second floor, where attendees can collaborate on a 2D paper gingerbread house and kids will make individual houses to take home.
Po Sim Fanny performs on the piano in Kirk Hall.
Fifth-floor Helzberg Auditorium is the setting for two script-in-hand performances of Dylan Thomas’ beloved A Child’s Christmas in Wales at 2 p.m. and 3:30 p.m.
