Creepy tales told around a campfire. A book finished by flashlight under the covers. Nothing is as delicious as the thrill of a good ghost story. How do authors create such scary-sweet treats?
In this course, we’ll examine the nuts and bolts of shivery stories. Using examples from Poe to the present, we’ll get under the hood of horror and create our own spooky fiction.
- Learn writing techniques of ghost stories: the uncanny, the fantastic, and more.
- Develop your own ghostly tale.
- Finish a short draft (250-500 words) if you dare.
This class is taught by a graduate student in the University of Missouri-Kansas City’s MFA Program in Creative Writing.
