Poetry Workshop: Write like Octavia Butler

Octavia Butler, American science fiction author, wrote bestseller Kindred, as well as Parable of the Sower, and Wild Seed. Butler expanded science fiction by writing from marginalized voices and critiquing hierarchal systems and violence. This class will explore Butler’s themes and cultural impacts, as well as how she crafts scenes and syntax.

This class is taught by a graduate student in the University of Missouri-Kansas City’s MFA Program in Creative Writing.
