Pop In at the Parks

Pop In at the Park

The Kansas City Public Library, Kansas City Parks and Recreation, and Kansas City Public Schools present the 2021 Pop In at the Park series. Last year as indoor spaces were closed during the early months of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Library worked with KC Parks to provide an outdoor alternative for families to connect with us. Although Library locations reopened their physical doors on June 1, 2021, the parks pop-up booths proved popular with the public, so they will continue this summer.

Library staff members will be stationed in parks throughout the city Tuesdays through Fridays beginning in June to provide summer learning opportunities and resources to families, connect people with key Library services, and more.

  • Readers of all ages can sign up for this year’s Summer Reading Program.
  • Harvesters Kids Café to-go meals will be available most days.
  • KC Public Schools will be at pop-up sites Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays  to offer assistance with enrollment information, school and technology questions and other programs to support Kansas City families for the upcoming 2021-2022 school year.
  • New hands-on children's STEAM activities will be offered weekly—have fun with lemon volcanoes, solar oven s’mores, tie-dying, and more.
  • Make. Do. Tell. activity kits will be available for pickup.
  • Complete our Pop In at the Park bingo sheet for a small prize!
  • Other Library programs and services will join in on different dates.

The Library’s Summer Reading Program runs June 1 – August 15, 2021. Sign up today!
