Heart of the City Program and Fundraising Coordinator VISTA

The Heart of the City Program and Fundraising Coordinator VISTA will focus on reviving the Yvonne Starks Wilson Park in the Dunbar neighborhood in Kansas City. Yvonne Starks Wilson Park is the only park in the KC Parks system that is named in honor of an African-American woman. Yvonne Starks Wilson was a former Dunbar resident that achieved recognition because of her unwavering desire to serve others. This park that now bears her name has a 100-year history in the Dunbar neighborhood and is in need of repair. The program is focused on assuring financial resources are available to support sustainable development, provide opportunities for public-private partnerships with KC Parks and other entities, cover future maintenance costs and ongoing community programming. The project will build capacity for the Dunbar neighborhood and KC Parks as well as encourage future neighborhood development.
