All Library locations will be closed Tuesday, December 24 & Wednesday, December 25, for the Christmas holiday.
On Thursday, April 9, at 6:30 p.m. at the Central Library, 14 W. 10th St., author Stephenie Ambrose Tubbs discusses her book Why Sacagawea Deserves the Day Off and Other Lessons from the Lewis and Clark Trail.
In her presentation, Tubbs, a Lewis and Clark enthusiast since her teenage years, touches on the extraordinary symbolism that has been attached to Sacagawea's legacy. Through essays historical and personal, Tubbs' book revisits the Lewis and Clark Trail and its famous people, landmarks, and events, exploring questions the expedition continues to raise. In the resulting trip through history, Tubbs recounts her travels, some with her well-known father Stephen Ambrose, along the trail by foot, Volkswagen bus, and canoe – at every turn renewing the American experience inscribed by Lewis and Clark.
