George H.W. Bush

George H.W. Bush: Life to the Fullest

Presented By
Jean Becker

As chief of staff to former President George H.W. Bush for 25 years, Jean Becker oversaw everything from the opening of his presidential library to the commissioning of the Navy aircraft carrier named for him. Mainly, she tried to keep up.

The 41st president was famous for his big ideas. Jumping from airplanes. Revisiting the spot where he was shot down during World War II. His grandest plans entailed a mission to make a post-White House difference—most famously, partnering with Bill Clinton, the man who defeated him in 1992, in disaster relief.

Two weeks after what would have been his 95th birthday, Becker discusses the man who became one of our country’s most widely admired political elders. She is preparing books on both his wife Barbara (due in 2020) and the former president (expected in early 2021).
