A 2005 Lifetime Achievement Award winner from the Native Writers’ Circle of the Americas, poet Carter Revard will discuss his prolific body of work.
Revard, born in Oklahoma of Osage Indian descent, earned a doctorate from Yale University in 1959. After starting his teaching career at Amherst College, Revard became a professor at Washington University in St. Louis. In 1980, he published his first anthology, Ponca War Dances, and was recognized as a leading voice in Native American poetry. He has published several additional anthologies of poetry, including An Eagle Nation.
