For the Love of Women: The History and Longevity of the Romance Genre

Presented By
Sierra Simone, Carley Morton, & Lucy Donnelly

Romance has been described as a juggernaut of contemporary literature. For example, the third book in Rebecca Yarros’ fantasy romance series, Onyx Storm, sold 2.7 million copies during its first week.

Readers' Services Librarian Lucy Donnelly talks with Sierra Simone, a USA Today and Wall Street Journal bestselling author, about the history and lasting appeal of romance. Simone moved from writing young adult books to adult romance, penning novels such as Priest, American Queen, and A Merry Little Meet Cute.

Carley Morton, a dedicated romance fan who owns Under the Cover, Kansas City’s first romance bookstore, joins them to explain how romance continues to evolve to meet readers’ interests.

Stop by before the conversation for a light reception and meet more local authors at a mini author fair. Book sales by Under the Cover.
