On Saturday, October 11, the Central Library is open to registered Heartland Book Festival attendees only. Regular services, such as hold pickups, public computers and phones, and public meeting rooms, will not be available.
From gallery exhibits to live music to kids’ activities and munchies, the Central Library provides a perfect family-friendly starting point for your First Friday.
EXHIBITS: The second-floor Rocky and Gabriella Mountain Gallery offers Cattle, Cowboys and Culture: Kansas City and Amarillo, Building an Urban West, which illuminates the historical, cattle-driven connections between Kansas City and the Texas Panhandle city of Amarillo. In the first-floor Genevieve Guldner Gallery, This Is Really Happening, See? features the everyday-life photography of Casey Lee Holden and Nelson Pereira.
MUSIC: The classically trained saxophone-and-piano ensemble Trio Spiritus performs.
KIDS: Celebrate the Chinese New Year with crafts in Kirk Hall on the first floor.
