Art Starts at the Library

From gallery exhibits to live music to kids’ activities and munchies, the Central Library provides a perfect family-friendly starting point for your First Friday.

EXHIBITS: The second-floor Rocky and Gabriella Mountain Gallery offers Cattle, Cowboys and Culture: Kansas City and Amarillo, Building an Urban West, which illuminates the historical, cattle-driven connections between Kansas City and the Texas Panhandle city of Amarillo. In the first-floor Genevieve Guldner Gallery, This Is Really Happening, See? features the everyday-life photography of Casey Lee Holden and Nelson Pereira.

MUSIC: The classically trained saxophone-and-piano ensemble Trio Spiritus performs.

KIDS: Celebrate the Chinese New Year with crafts in Kirk Hall on the first floor.
