KC Pop-Up Book Group

The Kansas City Star and the Kansas City Public Library are relaunching the FYI Book Club as the KC Pop-Up Book Group. The KC Pop-Up Book Group’s first book selection matches the library’s Big Read, a program of the National Endowment for the Arts in partnership with Arts Midwest.

The book for each is Kansas Citian Rebekah Taussig’s Sitting Pretty. Taussig’s memoir-in-essays is about the joys and challenges of physical human existence, particularly when navigating a world that was not designed with a wheelchair in mind. Kaite Mediatore Stover, the library’s director of readers’ services, will lead the discussion.

Big Read 2025 is supported in part by The National Endowment for the Arts Big Read, the City of Kansas City, Missouri Neighborhood Tourist Development Fund, and the Estelle S. and Robert A. Long Ellis Foundation. NEA Big Read is a program of the National Endowment for the Arts in partnership with Arts Midwest. El Proyecto NEA Big Read es una iniciativa del National Endowment for the Arts (el Fondo Nacional para las Artes de Estados Unidos) en cooperacion con Arts Midwest.
