Harm Reduction: What You Need to Know

Presented by Opioid Response Network

This one-hour training introduces the concept of harm reduction with people who use drugs and its role in promoting health, safety, and dignity.

Open to Kansas City Public Library staff, patrons, and guests, the session explores key principles and practical strategies used to reduce the negative effects of substance use and other high-risk behaviors. Whether you're a community member, service provider, or simply curious, this session offers a supportive space to learn, ask questions, and walk away with real-world tools for creating more inclusive and informed environments.

Darla Belflower, LCSW, CPS, has worked in leadership in the substance use disorder and behavioral health fields for over three decades. She has a passion for teaching others what she has learned in those years. She is Vice Chair of the KC Recovery Coalition, serves on the MO Coalition of Recovery Support Providers board, and is a member of the MO Department of Mental Health State Advisory Council. She is an LCSW, LAC, CRAADC, CPS, CTTS, and HRS. Darla obtained her MSW from the KU, and she has a BS in Psychology and Alcohol and Drug Studies from MO Valley College.
