In this course, learn how to write a complete story in under 1000 words. Study examples of flash fiction with pieces such as “Sticks” by George Saunders, that use the elements of brevity, plot, and surprise unique to short-form writing to engage and excite the reader. Take class time to emulate these tactics in your own very short story.
This class is taught by a graduate student in the University of Missouri-Kansas City’s MFA Program in Creative Writing.
