Cosplay Guidelines

All Cosplay must conform to the general library policies relating to dress code and appropriate behavior. View our policies particularly the section General Expectations of Customer Behavior.

Restrictions include, but are not limited to

  • No Nudity
  • No weapons
  • Chests must be covered regardless of gender identification
  • Shoes must be worn
  • No hateful symbols or emblems of genocide
  • No oversized items that might impede other guests
  • To ensure a welcoming environment for all, library staff may request costume changes or ask participants to leave if a costume is inappropriate or does not comply with library policies.

Statement on Harassment

We hope everyone who comes to library feels safe and has a good time. We take a strong stance against harassment. Please respect the feelings and personal space of others. Harassment may be, but is not limited to, verbal, written, or visual indications of mockery, physical assaults, intimidation, and unwanted advances or contact.

Cosplay Contest Rules

  1. Contestants must sign up with library staff at the welcome table
  2. Each contestant may only enter one costume into competition
  3. Each contestant may enter as an individual or as a group
  4. Preference will be given to handmade costumes
  5. No explosive or other similar special effects are allowed
  6. No messy substances or weapons are allowed
  7. Every part of each contestant’s costume must leave the stage with them
  8. No profanity, political, or religious statements or signage are allowed during the contest
  9. The Library reserves the right to close the contest registration if it becomes too large
  10. Contestants will be judged according to their costume’s resemblance to the character it is based on, representation of their costume, and craftsmanship skill

Judging will take place on Saturday, February 14 at the Plaza Branch at 4:15 p.m.

Fan Art Contest Information

  • Artwork must be 2-D, 8x10 inches only, and G-Rated
  • Art must be traditional and can not be created from AI
  • 1 submission per person
  • Fan Art only, no original characters
  • Will be displayed at the Plaza Branch during the month of February
  • By submitting artwork, participants acknowledge that the library has sole discretion over display selections
  • The Library is not responsible for damages while the artwork is transported or displayed
  • Judging will occur during PopCon, Saturday, February 14th approximately at 4:30 p.m., after the Cosplay Contest, at the Plaza Branch
  • You do not need to be present to win
  • Submissions will be returned to the branch they were submitted to by March 1
  • Artwork must be collected from the branch by March 15 or will become property of the Library to do with as they see fit
