The Library’s annual summer skyline film series returns with a fresh lineup of FREE outdoor movies!

Actor Nicolas Cage is a national treasure, but with the unbearable weight of his massive talent, it’s hard to choose a favorite performance from among his many films. Since we’re between a rock and a hard place, we’re looking to you, our movie-loving patrons, to help select this year’s lineup.

PREPARE YOURSELF for the most intense edition of the Library’s Off the Wall Film Series... CAGE MATCH! Each month, Nicolas Cage will face off against his most challenging adversary... HIMSELF!

Co-presented by Young Friends of the Kansas City Public Library.

How CAGE MATCH works

This summer, we offer up a monthly pairing of two Nicolas Cage movies to engage in epic cinematic combat. Which film will be screened? That’s to be decided in the cruel and unforgiving arena of public voting. Two films enter, but only ONE will emerge as each event’s selected champion!

• Review the monthly matchups listed below.
• Cast your votes in advance of each month’s screening date using our online battle ballots.
• We’ll announce each round’s victor about one week in advance of the event date.
• The winning entry is shown as that month’s Off the Wall screening.

Some tips and notes about how best to enjoy an evening of downtown KC skyline cinema on the Central Library's Rooftop Terrace:

• Bring your own seating, blankets, or folding chairs for seating. (Additional chairs or other seating not provided.)
• Bring your own food, snacks, and non-alcoholic beverages No glass containers, please!
• Doors open at 8 p.m. (Note: The Central Library closes at 5 p.m. on Fridays, but the doors reopen at 8 p.m. for Off the Wall audiences.)
• All movies begin at dusk (approximately 8:45 p.m.)
• Parking: Enter the Library District parking garage via Baltimore Ave. Bring your parking ticket to the event for complimentary validation.
• Transit options: take KC Streetcar to the Library stop at 9^th / Main or Ride KC bus routes.
• In case of bad weather, the event will be canceled
