Comprehensive Facilities Plan Takes Steps to Ensure Library Spaces Fully Support New Vision and Mission

Last July, the Library invited the Kansas City metro to dream big and help shape a Comprehensive Facilities Plan (CFP) for the Library’s next 10 years. Library staff worked with a team of professionals to evaluate all facilities and consider future possibilities as the organization evolves to best serve the community.

Since then, thousands of stakeholder conversations and robust data analysis have led to a plan that goes far beyond bricks and mortar. This plan is designed to ensure that Library spaces truly reflect the people the Library serves, to expand access, and to create more opportunities for everyone to learn, connect, explore, and thrive.

Moving forward, the Library will study the feasibility of making changes to buildings and use this plan as a guide for capital improvements — based on community needs — and a flexible roadmap for the entire Library system. Explore the newly adopted Comprehensive Facilities Plan to learn more.
