Where to Find Cold Weather Shelters and Warming Centers
This post will be updated.
Kansas City’s extreme weather plan is in effect December 1, 2025, through February 28, 2026.
Extreme weather shelters: During the winter months, Kansas City, Missouri, funds a network of emergency shelters for the unhoused community. Please call ahead for hours and availability.
Four locations are open each night, regardless of temperature, through February 28.
As the city activates different levels of the Zero KC Extreme Weather Plan, more beds will be available — up to 931 shelter beds for the unhoused during frigid temperatures. Nearly 500 of these beds are low-barrier shelter beds, and 400 beds will be offered through collaborative partnerships.
For more information, go to KCMO.gov/zeroKC or call the activation hotline at 816-513-3699. Check the Library's Street Sheets for additional resources.
