The Road Home: A Journey from Homelessness to Housing is a storytelling exhibition by Springfield, Missouri-based filmmaker and photographer Randy Bacon.
The project marks a collaboration between Bacon and reStart Inc. The nonprofit organization was founded in 1980 and operates the only homeless shelter serving all populations in downtown Kansas City, Missouri. reStart commissioned the exhibition, inspired by Bacon’s traveling show, The Road I Call Home, which also brings attention to the unhoused.
The exhibition includes videos, portraits, and stories of former reStart residents. A short film demonstrates what it looks like when the need for housing goes unmet.
