Zachary Karabell: Chester Alan Arthur

Author Zachary Karabell examines Chester Alan Arthur, who was propelled into the presidency by the assassination of James Garfield and turned his back on the patronage system that had nurtured him. Karabell is a historian, money manager, and economist. The World Economic Forum has designated Karabell a “Global Leader for Tomorrow”; he sits on the boards of the World Policy Institute and the New America Foundation. Among his many books of history are a biography of Chester Alan Arthur and The Last Campaign: How Harry Truman Won the 1948 Election. Co-presented with the Truman Library Institute and co-sponsored by KCUR’s Up to Date.
