To Wong Foo, Thanks for Everything! Julie Newmar (1995)

Doors open: 8 pm • Program: 8:45 pm
During a road trip from New York to Hollywood to participate in the Miss Drag Queen of America pageant, a glamorous trio (Wesley Snipes, Patrick Swayze, John Leguizamo) gets stranded in a small, middle-of-nowhere town. As they await car repairs – and dodge a racist, homophobic sheriff – they make friends with the locals, turning their cross-country journey into a cross-cultural learning experience.

Tunes: Salt-N-Pepa, Chaka Khan, Patti LaBelle, Tom Jones, Cyndi Lauper, and more soulful songs.

This year the Library’s FREE Off-the-Wall rooftop summer film series highlights quirky characters fighting the status quo. These madcap movie escapades are set to memorable soundtracks ideally produced to serve up shenanigans.
