Harvard historian Jill Lepore discusses her new book The Whites of Their Eyes: The Tea Party’s Revolution and the Battle Over American History on Wednesday, January 26, 2011, at 6:30 p.m. at the Central Library, 14 W. 10th St.
In The Whites of Their Eyes, Lepore offers a wry and bemused look at American history according to the far right. In it, she contends that the Tea Party’s revolution is based on a nostalgic yearning for an imagined past, and that the group is just another in a long line of organizations and individuals that have laid claim to the legacy of the American Revolution.
Lepore is the David Woods Kemper ’41 professor of American history and chair of the History and Literature Program at Harvard University.
Copies of The Whites of Their Eyes will be available, and Lepore will sign copies purchased during the event.
