The English Speaking Union is hosting the Fulbright-Robertson Visiting Professor from Westminster College, Fulton, MO.
Dr. Robert Tyler was born in Casnewydd/Newport in the southeast of Wales and studied History at the University College of Wales, Aberystwyth. He earned an MA in History from the University of Pittsburgh, subsequently taught for four years at various institutions in Japan and Argentina and, in 1997, was awarded an Australian Government Scholarship to research the Welsh in nineteenth century Australia at the University of Melbourne, receiving his PhD on the subject in 2000.
Dr. Tyler's lecture topic will be "Great Britain--Its Constitutional Future" and he will discuss current proposed legislation regarding the devolution of Scotland and Wales. Dr. Tyler welcomes questions from the audience at the conclusion of the lecture.
All ESU members and guests are cordially invited to Dr. Tyler's presentation on Sunday, April 11 at 2:30 PM at the Plaza Branch of the K.C. Public Library, 4801 Main St., Kansas City. Admission is free and open to the public.
