Vicki Myron: Dewey

Vicki Myron discusses her best-selling book, Dewey: The Small-Town Library Cat Who Touched the World.

Dewey hit No. 1 on the New York Times Bestseller List in November.

In the 1980s, Spencer, Iowa, was mired in the national farm crisis. Myron and the rest of the Spencer Public Library staff had tried everything to raise the spirits of the town when on the coldest morning of the year, Myron found a small kitten nearly frozen to death in the library’s night drop box.

Named by the townspeople, Dewey kept library patrons entertained with antics. His sixth sense for comforting those in need created hundreds of lasting friendships. Dewey remained a loyal companion and brought hope to the people of Spencer as the town pulled itself out of the worst financial crisis in its long history.

Myron’s book will be available for sale, and the author will sign copies purchased during the event.
