The National Museum of Toys and Miniatures, 5235 Oak St, Kansas City, MO 64112
Author Truman Capote is known for Breakfast at Tiffany’s, a 1958 coming-of-age novel about Holly Golightly set in Manhattan during WWII, and In Cold Blood, the 1966 account of the brutal murders of a Kansas farm family.
Capote also wrote the 1956 holiday story called A Christmas Memory. He reportedly considered this recollection from his Alabama childhood his most perfect work, and a passage was included in Capote’s memorial service in 1984.
In the tradition of Charles Dickens reading his holiday favorite, A Christmas Carol, performer Park Bucker recites Capote’s tale of holiday remembrance and redemption, followed by a Q&A. This free event has limited seating, so tickets via Eventbrite are required.
Co-presented by the Young Friends of the Kansas City Public Library and the National Museum of Toys and Miniatures.
