All Library locations will be closed Tuesday, December 24 & Wednesday, December 25, for the Christmas holiday.
On Friday, October 17, at 4 p.m. the Sugar Creek Branch, 102 South Sterling, celebrates its recent renovation with a free reception open to the public.
Among the dignitaries scheduled to speak at the reception are Sugar Creek Mayor Stanley Salva, Sugar Creek representative to the Kansas City Public Library’s Board of Trustees, Fran Daniel, Library Director Crosby Kemper III, and Branch Manager Claudia Visnich.
The branch, in its existing location since 1996 serving residents of Sugar Creek and western Independence, has undergone an expanded renovation that includes additions to the book and DVD collections. Aesthetically, Sugar Creek’s floor plan has been altered, featuring a media room and young adult space. The entire interior has also been repainted.
“I think it shows the Library is committed to this community,” said Sugar Creek Assistant Branch Manager and Children’s Librarian Clare Hollander. “I think it’s great for the community.”
