Celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Writers at Work series with an appearance by National Book Award winner and Pulitzer Prize nominee Joyce Carol Oates on Monday, November 8, 2010, at 6 p.m. at the Central Library, 14 W. 10th St.
Oates will discuss Sourland, her latest short story collection that explores how violence, loss, and grief shape both the psyche and the soul. As one of today’s most prolific fiction writers, she is well known for two bestsellers, We Were the Mulvaneys and Blonde.
Writers at Work is organized by Kansas City novelist Whitney Terrell and co-sponsored by the UMKC English Department and the Writers at Work Roundtable.
Copies of Sourland will be available for sale.
