Rebecca Solnit - Infinite City: A San Francisco Atlas

Rebecca Solnit offers a guided tour of the Bay Area through her latest book, Infinite City, which reinvents the traditional atlas, expanding it from a mere collection of maps to a vibrant depiction of a city’s inner life.

Aided by a small army of artists, writers and mapmakers, Sonit – a San Francisco resident and Guggenheim Fellow – helps us understand what it’s like to live in, work in, and play in her gorgeous home town.

Politics, economics, gay history, little-known landmarks, the counterculture, nightlife, food, shopping ... it’s all to be found in Infinite City: A San Francisco Atlas.

Co-sponsored by The Commons at the University of Kansas, a partnership between the Hall Center for the Humanities, the Spencer Museum of Art, and the Biodiversity Institute that brings together scholars and students from the science, humanities and arts to explore the reciprocal relationships between nature and culture.
