The Power of Reading: A Celebration of the Written Word

The third annual Power of Reading celebration features Kansas City authors and new adult readers sharing inspired stories about the role reading plays in their lives.

KCTV 5 co-anchor Carolyn Long hosts an evening that includes personal essays from writers Robert Butler, Natasha Ria El-Scari, Brian Shawver and Gabriela Lemmons – as well as testimonials to the importance of reading and challenges of illiteracy from new adult readers Greg Ballard, Jim Dowler, Christina Jones, and Mona Taylor. This event is presented in partnership with Literacy Kansas City and The Writers Place.
