Happy Death Day

Party Central: 'Happy Death Day'

It’s last call. Time to get that final drink and say your goodbyes. The Library wraps up the 2024 Off the Wall rooftop film series, Party Central, with Happy Death Day (PG-13, 96 min.).

A college student (played by Jessica Rothe) is stuck in a time loop; she wakes up on her birthday in an unfamiliar boy’s dorm room, and that night, she is the victim of a murder. She relives the same day – again and again – until she can solve the mystery of who is trying to kill her and why.

RogerEbert.com calls the film “a horror riff on the Groundhog Day model.” The Guardian describes it as a “joyous, punchy throwback to the teen slasher movies of the 1990s and early 2000s.”
