Ovarian Psycos (2016)

The all-female Ovarian Psycos bicycle brigade has been riding through Eastside Los Angeles since 2011, cruising barrios and boulevards where women were killed to signal to the community that they stand together without fear. The documentary Ovarian Psycos (2016; NR) follows this motley crew of heroines, their confrontation of injustice, racism, and violence, and the impact their brand of feminism has had on women in the neighborhoods they traverse.

The Library and KCPT-TV screen the 72-minute film as part of the Indie Lens Pop-Up community cinema initiative. A discussion afterward is led by members of BikeWalkKC’s Women Bike KC initiative and Squad of Siblings, a group of leaders dedicated to combating sexual violence in Kansas City.

This event is co-sponsored by: KCPT-TV and the University of Missouri Kansas City
