In the third season of the Script-in-Hand series of stage performances, the Kansas City Public Library and Metropolitan Ensemble Theatre present Law & Literature, a collection of the most memorable legal dramas ever written.
The third play in the series, The Night of January 16th by Ayn Rand, is scheduled for Sunday, March 1, at 2 p.m. at the Central Library, 14 W. 10th St.
In the play, the audience becomes the jury in deciding if the death of Bjorn Faulkner was suicide or murder.
A swindler in need of money despite an injection of funds from future father-in-law John Graham Whitfield, Faulkner falls to his death from the Faulkner Building in New York. His mistress is in the penthouse when the incident takes place and is charged with murder. In her trial, a myriad of witnesses offer stories of vast contradiction with the prevailing question... is she innocent or guilty?
The Script-in-Hand series is sponsored by The Friends of the Kansas City Public Library with additional funding provided by the Richard J. Stern Foundation for the Arts.
Other plays in the series include Chicago (May 3) at the Plaza Branch, Antigone (June 7) at the Central Library, and The Devil and Daniel Webster (June 26) at the Plaza Branch.
