The Library continues its special, intergenerational movie series for individuals with dementia, their friends, and families with the amiable, computer-animated musical Sing.
Lauded by Newsweek as “a genuine crowd-pleaser with sparkling characters, feel-good tunes and a big-hearted spirit,” the film revolves around an optimistic koala (voiced by Matthew McConaughey) who stages a grand singing competition for animals in an effort to save the once-elegant theater he inherited from his father. It features more than 60 songs, from Leonard Cohen's “Hallelujah” to Dolly Parton’s “9 to 5” and Van Halen’s “Jump.”
The afternoon starts with live music and popcorn. Besides taking in the movie, attendees can participate in a guess-the-voice contest and a hands-on craft project.
