Moshe Safdie

Acclaimed architect Moshe Safdie will give a major address on the progress of his latest work, the Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts, at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, October 16, at the Central Library, 14 W. 10th St.

A major force in architecture for several decades, Safdie’s major cultural and educational commissions in America include the United States Institute of Peace Headquarters on the Mall in Washington, D.C., the Skirball Museum and Cultural Center in Los Angeles, and Exploration Place in Wichita, in addition to educational facilities such as Eleanor Roosevelt College at the University of California in San Diego and civic buildings such as the Federal Courthouses of Springfield, Massachusetts, and Mobile, Alabama. In addition to major works of urbanism, Safdie’s projects include two airports, Lester B. Pearson International Airport in Toronto and Ben Gurion International Airport in Tel Aviv.
