Due to flooding Mobile Services is canceling all Books to Go deliveries and all afternoon Bookmobile stops for the week of Monday, July 21st.
Father and son Henry and Tom Bloch discuss the founding of H&R Block and explain how the company transitioned from a Kansas City-based bookkeeping business to the “Nation’s Largest Income Tax Service” on Tuesday, November 9, 2010, at 6:30 p.m. at the Central Library, 14 W. 10th St.
Henry Bloch and his brother Richard Bloch co-founded H&R Block in 1955. Tom Bloch is the former CEO of the company and author of a new biography, Many Happy Returns: The Story of Henry Bloch, America’s Tax Man.
Barely able to eke out a living as a budding entrepreneur, Bloch’s hard work, vision, and pioneering spirit helped establish the company as an industry leader. Many Happy Returns details the family’s thorniest challenges, gut-wrenching defeats, and greatest triumphs and offers advice to aspiring entrepreneurs.
The event serves as a kickoff to Global Entrepreneurship Week, sponsored by the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation.
