The Central Library's 10th Street accessible entrance is temporarily closed for elevator repairs. A phone number is posted outside the Library to contact staff for assistance with navigating the temporary accessible entrance on Baltimore Ave.
During decades of official segregation in public schools, all-black Lincoln High was a source of community inspiration, pride, and hope matched only by African American churches.
To celebrate Lincoln High’s recent listing on the National Register of Historic Places, local historian Joelouis Mattox leads a discussion about the school — now Lincoln High Preparatory Academy — and its students, teachers, alumni, and parents. Special guests include the Lincoln High School Class of 1964, gathered for its 50-year reunion.
Mattox is historian for Kansas City’s Historic Preservation Commission.
