Hue 1968: A Turning Point of the American War in Vietnam

Series: Big Read

Presented By
Mark Bowden

In a discussion of his new book, Mark Bowden (author of the 1999 best-seller Black Hawk Down) details one of the most pivotal battles in the Vietnam War. Fought during the Tet Offensive launched by the North Vietnamese in January 1968, the Battle of Hue lasted nearly 24 days, cost 10,000 lives, and gave the North control of the city. Ultimately, it shifted conversations from how the U.S. could win to how it could get out of Vietnam.
