When President Eisenhower retired, he remained the leader of the Republican Party and continued to be interested in public policy. His counsel, however, was rejected by President Kennedy, he considered Barry Goldwater unqualified, and he could only watch as the Vietnam War divided the nation. In the book, David Eisenhower offers an account of his grandfather’s life during those years.
