Art in the Loop, a temporary art exhibition and performance series, celebrated its 11th year in 2024 in downtown Kansas City and along the KC Streetcar route. Events featured performing artists, musicians, poets, dancers, aerial performers, and more.
Artists responded to the theme of convivencia – a shared life with others that takes constant practice, effort, and negotiation, while recognizing friction or opposing energy. Tommi Laitio spoke about the importance of convivencia in public spaces in his December talk kicking off the Library’s 150th anniversary celebration.
Art in the Loop’s closing event features participating artists discussing and showing their work, including dance by Olivia Emert & Company, and poetry by Sherry Purpose Hall and Fenom D. Poet.
The curated outdoor exhibition of temporary artworks is presented in partnership with the KC Streetcar and the Downtown Council.
