All Library locations will open late at 10:15 a.m. Wednesday, November 20, due to all staff training.
Wander the highways and byways of eastern Kansas and western Missouri, from the Flint Hills to the Ozarks, and you’ll almost inevitably come across one—or several—of the region’s many breweries, wineries, and distilleries.
Author Pete Dulin maps out more than 150 of them in his book Expedition of Thirst: Exploring Breweries, Wineries, and Distilleries Across the Heart of Kansas and Missouri.
He discusses this proliferation of local crafters, sharing their stories and delving into the history, culture, and geography that have shaped their practices and products. Dulin has spoken previously at the Library about two of his other books, Kansas City Beer: A History of Brewing in the Heartland and KC Ale Trail. He also is the author of Last Bite: 100 Simple Recipes from Kansas City’s Best Chefs and Cooks.
