Developing Power

Presented By
Irene Tinker

Irene Tinker helped compile and edit Developing Power: How Women Transformed International Development, a collection of stories of 27 women from a dozen countries who have contributed to the global women’s movement. But she might have merited her own chapter in the book.

A pioneer in the study of the economic impact of women in developing countries, Tinker is founder of the International Center for Research on Women and the Equity Policy Center and was a U.S. delegate to the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women.

She recounts the book's compelling testimonies on the eve of Women’s Equality Day. It commemorates passage of the 19th Amendment in 1920, allowing women to vote.

Co-sponsored by Women’s Equality Week Coalition GKC and UNA Women of Greater Kansas City.
