Circle of Greed

Presented By
Carl Cannon

Veteran Washington journalist Carl M. Cannon, co-author of Circle of Greed: The Spectacular Rise and Fall of the Lawyer Who Brought Corporate America to Its Knees, provides an insider’s view of some of the most extraordinary courtroom and boardroom battles in recent history on Thursday, April 15, at 6:30 p.m. at the Central Library, 14 W. 10th St.

For more than 20 years, Bill Lerach was the leading class action lawyer in America. He threatened, shook down, and sued Fortune 500 companies, including Disney, Apple, Time Warner, and Enron. Then he fell prey to the same corrupt impulses of his enemies and ended up serving time in federal prison. In 2008, Lerach was sentenced to two years for his involvement in a kickback scheme.

Cannon is the deputy editor of politicsdaily.com and co-author of Reagan’s Disciple: George W. Bush’s Troubled Quest for a Presidential Legacy. He has won numerous awards, including a share of the Pulitzer Prize in 1989 and the Gerald R. Ford Prize for Distinguished Reporting of the Presidency.

Copies of Circle of Greed will be available for sale, and Cannon will sign copies purchased during the event.
