The installation of ultra-high-speed Google Fiber internet service in Kansas City is well underway. But what will it mean to residents day to day on a practical level?
That question will be addressed in an event exploring the future of hyper-fast internet applications and the innovations spurred by its implementation here.
Morning session with introductions, Gigabit Fund announcement and speakers: 9 - 11:30 a.m.
Breakout sessions: 1 - 5 p.m. (Note: you must register separately for breakout sessions, subject to availability)
Reception and Report-Out: 6 - 8 p.m.
Morning activities throughout the Library include demonstrations of gigabit applications (including a software lending service being developed by the Library), a panel discussion with representatives of U.S. Ignite, National Science Foundation and the GENI Project Office and appearances by Mayors Holland and James.
The afternoon will have attendees working in groups to envision gigabit apps that could impact major issues of our region. Potential topics include K-12 Education, Workforce Development, Digital Inclusion and Lifelong Learning. Interested in participating in breakout sessions?, subject to availability.
