David Lynch

Blue Velvet (1986)

The 2017 Searching the Psyche Through Cinema series, spotlighting the works of stylish, idiosyncratic director David Lynch, wraps up its five-film run with a screening and psychological study of Lynch’s surrealistic masterpiece Blue Velvet. The dark mystery uncovers the disturbing events beneath the surface of a seemingly sleepy, all-American community.

A post-screening discussion is led by psychoanalyst Larry Tyndall and Eric Melin, film reviewer for The Pitch and president of the Kansas City Film Critics Circle.

Presented in partnership with the Greater Kansas City and Topeka Psychoanalytic Center.
