Between Silence and Light

Presented By
Kansas City Baroque Consortium

The Kansas City Baroque Consortium has been one of the city’s cultural jewels since 2009, specializing in the performance of early music on period instruments. The ensemble of professional musicians offers a preview of its upcoming summer series with a special concert – melding live music and short lectures – that underscores the influence of music on other art forms: written word, dance, architecture, and visual arts.

The title of the summer series, Between Silence and Light, is inspired by architecture professor and consultant John Lobell’s book about renowned 20th-century architect Louis Kahn, who saw his discipline as a meeting of the unmeasurable (silence) and measurable (light). Performances will explore the connections between art forms, eras, and cultures.
