40: A Doonesbury Retrospective

Presented By
Garry Trudeau

Pulitzer Prize-winner Garry Trudeau makes a special public appearance to celebrate the release of 40: A Doonesbury Retrospective, a lavish book commemorating four decades of expert commentary on the social and political landscape, on Monday, October 25, at 6:30 p.m. at the Plaza Branch, 4801 Main St.

Trudeau started Doonesbury in 1970, while still a student at Yale University. He has orchestrated his beloved characters through eight presidential administrations, a handful of wars, and countless cultural trends. Along the way, Doonesbury became one of the biggest success stories in comic-syndication history.

Trudeau's animated film A Doonesbury Special was nominated for an Academy Award. Doonesbury was the first comic strip ever to win a Pulitzer Prize.

The book includes an introductory essay written by Trudeau, 18 original character essays, and nearly 2,000 Doonesbury strips.
