Monsters in the shadows. Creepy tales around a campfire. Nothing is as delicious as the thrill of a scare. How do authors invent such hair-raising creations? In this course, we’ll examine the nuts and bolts of shivery stories. Using old and new examples of the supernatural, we’ll get under the hood of horror and create our own scary fiction.
- Learn writing techniques of horror and the supernatural: the uncanny, the fantastic, and more
- Develop your own horror or supernatural tale
- Finish a short draft (250-500 words) if you dare
This class is taught by a graduate student in the University of Missouri-Kansas City’s MFA Program in Creative Writing.
