Stream Thousands of Movies, Documentaries, and Television Shows With Just Your Library Card

Wednesday, May 27, 2020

KanopyWith Kanopy, you can watch thousands of movies, documentaries, television shows and educational videos for free from the comfort of your home. All you need is a Kansas City Public Library card, internet access, and the Kanopy app (available on computers, smartphones, tablets, and many smart TVs).

Kanopy’s collection has been carefully curated to provide quality, thoughtful programs that inspire, enrich, and entertain. It includes selections from the Criterion Collection of important classic and contemporary films from around the world and the Great Courses series of college-level lectures for lifelong learners, as well as film festival winners and much more.

Library cardholders are usually allowed to stream 12 titles per month, but that limit has been temporarily raised to 20. Additionally, Kanopy has a selection of “credit-free” titles that do not count against the limit.

Kanopy includes selections from the Criterion Collection and The Great Courses as well as Academy Award-winning films and noteworthy documentaries.

Kanopy Kids – available through the same app – features a collection of films and TV series designed to help children develop empathy, mindfulness, and self-esteem. It includes developmentally appropriate, age-based ratings from Common Sense Media, as well as additional parental controls.

Even better, Kanopy Kids programs do not count at this time against your 20-titles-per-month limit.
