September 2021 Central Youth Services Zine

Wednesday, September 1, 2021

The September 2021 Central Youth Services kids zine is now available! This month we invite you to get a library card and celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month. This issue comes with a pet rock named Trixie, some smart shark facts and an especially silly joke about a pretzel and a potato chip! It is also raining tacos on Page 15.

The CYS Zine is a 16-page monthly mini magazine that highlights what's new and notable in the children's department of the Central Library. Each issue is filled with new books and upcoming events, plus amazing facts, funny jokes, poetry, artwork and puzzles. Normally available at the CYS service desk, you can now download a copy online, print it, and enjoy the zine from home.

Printing/assembly tips for the CYS Zine:

If you have one-sided printing:

  1. Print the zine as 2 sheets of paper.
  2. Cut along the dotted lines.
  3. Put pages in order and staple!

If you have double-sided printing:

  1. Select the print options Print on both sides of paper and Flip on short edge.
  2. (You may also have to change from Portrait to Landscape as the orientation.)
  3. Print the document.
  4. Fold the sheet once lengthwise, then fold that in half, then fold again.
  5. Check to see if the page order looks right; if not, refold.
  6. Staple on the center fold line.
  7. Then cut/trim the top and side, so the zine opens.

If you feel inspired, why not create your own zine? It's as easy as folding pages and writing/drawing your own little magazine!
