Skyline
Sidney J. Hurwitz, born 1932, is an American artist known for bold lines, heavy outlines and splotches of color within his work. The landscape, "Skyline", features distinct artist tenancies from weighty black outlines for the contour of the cityscape, and delicate use of lines to form cross hatching and structural formation. The color of the composition ranges from muted orange tones dedicated for the horizon, and umber hues for the city. Structures are abstract and are subtly alluded to in this work. Few buildings are truly realized as solid structures, the most noted architectural detail is the outline of a dome rising into the horizon on the right. The work has handwritten dedications located at the bottom, from the left the title "Skyline" to the right "125/200", "©", "S.Hurwitz" and "1956".
